The Inflation Reduction Act is not enough when it comes to climate change.
But it did instantly increase the global investment in renewables by over 10%. It will also likely save all of the nuclear power plants at risk of closure in the US, which are up to 40% of the entire fleet.
It raised the expected cut in US GHG emissions by the end of the decade by 10pp to almost 50%, which is the amount needed to reach the Paris target of 1.5°c.

This is the biggest climate legislation ever. Yet it is not enough. This is huge good news. Yet it is not enough.
This is the magnitude of a problem we are dealing with.
So let us celebrate this achievement, while never forgetting and keeping on yelling:
It is not enough.
